The white cane or sometimes called a walking stick alerts the blind and visually-impaired persons over
obstacles or environmental-barriers and enables them to move around safely. It is self-evident that the
white cane has proven to be a useful mobility tool to millions of blind and visually-impaired persons
from around the world.
In order to help them to get a walking stick, MADC or PMOKUM has initiated a new program named 1
BLIND 1 CANE 2.0
This project aims to give every blind a walking stick. It is going to benefit one thousand (1000) blind and
visually-impaired persons nationwide.
This is to ease the burden of blind and visually-impaired persons who cannot afford to have their own
sticks. Besides that this program also educates blind and visually-impaired persons especially from the
rural areas about the importance of walking sticks.
Last but not least this program is to create greater awareness to the public about the needs of walking
sticks for the blind.
